Keylong freezes at minus 7 degree C

Shimla (Dec 24): Icy-cold winds triggered by light snowfall in the last 24 hours further intensified cold wave in the state.

High reaches of Lahaul & Spiti reported light snowfall last evening as Rangcha-Gali, Kor Amchi, Lady of Keylong mount range and Kunzum Pass experienced fresh snowfall, which aggravated the cold wave condition in the state as most of towns were below sub-zero temperatures last night.

Keylong in Lahaul Spiti and Kalpa in Kinnaur were at minus 7.1 degree Celsius and Minus 4 degrees, respectively. Bhuntar in Kullu was -0.6 degrees, Solan minus one degree and Mandi and Sundernagar zero degrees Celsius. Shimla was low at 2.7 degrees, Una 3.5 degrees, Dharamsala and Palampur in Kangra at 4 degrees each.

Vehicular traffic through the Rohtang Pass continued despite this fact that it is already off for vehicles officially from November 15, 2010. However, HRTC, plying Manali and Keylong bus service, decided to suspend the service from today onward.
