High reaches of Lahaul-Spiti receives fresh snowfall

    Shimla (Dec 23) High reaches of Lahaul- Spiti have reported light spell of snowfall this evening, report arriving here from Keylong said.

    According to District Information Officer, Sher Singh about 14536 ft high Rangcha-Gali, Kor Amchi, Lady of Keylong mountain range and Kunzum Pass experienced fresh spell of snowfall which aggravated the cold wave condition in the state further.

    He said that vehicular traffic on 13050 ft high Rohtang Pass did not affect by the fresh spell of snowfall and it was continue despite this fact that it is already off for vehicle officially from November 15, 2010.

    However, HRTC plying Manali and Keylong, lone bus service decided to suspend its service.

    The decision has been taken due to freezing water over the 96 Km long road surrounded lofty snow laden cliffs at 13050 ft high Rohtang Pass.

    Meanwhile, the unabated biting cold wave has gripped the state, despite clear and bright sunshine in the day when mercury is keeping several degree below normal in Himachal Pradesh. The met weather bulletin released here today said that tribal town Keylong in Lahaul Spiti was coldest in the region at minus four degrees and Kalpa at minus 3.4 degrees, Bhuntar 0.9 degrees, Mandi, Sundernagar and Solan was at zero degrees each. Minimum of temperature of Shimla and Una is three degree each and Palampur and Dharamshala at four degrees each and Nahan 6.5 degrees each, respectively.

    The Met office forecast mainly dry weather in the state during next 24 hrs.
