Charas smuggler in Himachal awarded 10-yr imprisonment

    Shimla, (Dec 21) District Session and Special Court Shimla in a decision on the case here today awarded 10 yrs jail and fine of one lakh rupees to a charas smuggler who had been caught with seven kilogram illicit charas in 2009.

    District Session Judge Shimla, Shamshair Singh today pronounced judgment after hearing the defense and prosecution into a trial of Inder Singh alias Inder Kumar who have been punished for ten years of imprisonment and fine of Rs One lakh and one years additional imprisonment in failure to pay the fine.

    The accused was held in 2009 by inspector Ram Kumar and Virender Chauhan while patrolling over at Naina Village. Inder Singh son of  Het Ram village Ghotodi of Rajgarh area of Sirmour district was nabbed by them while he tried to run from the spot and recovered seven kilogram charas from his possession.
