Prof Peter Ronald deSouza gets second term as IIAS director

Shimla (Nov 10): Professor Peter Ronald deSouza, director, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, has been given a second term by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. His present term is to end on 16 December. 2010. He had assumed the charge of Director on 17 December, 2007.

This is for the second time in the history of the Institute since its inception that the director is getting a second term. Earlier, Professor Mrinal Miri was given second term as director in 1996. Professor BL Mungekar, chairman of the governing body of the Institute, made the announcement of the appointment of Professor deSouza as director of IIAS for the second term in the 135th meeting of the governing body held in New Delhi yesterday.
