Shimla (Nov 9): Himachal Pradesh Fruit and Vegetable Growers Confederation today strongly opposed the decision of the present BJP government to auction AIPIL Carton Factory at Pragati Nagar in Kotkhai sub-division of Shimla district.

“The present government has decided to dispose of the machinery of this plant in the form of scrap at throwaway price and land worth many crores is being transferred just for nothing, which has put big question mark on the motive of incumbent state regime,” HPF&VGC general secretary Sanjay Chauhan said in a press statement issued here today. Chauhan alleged that the same machinery being used in other parts of the world was still in production and working properly but the state government was disposing of this machinery for just Rs 1.08 crore as scrap, whereas the purchasing cost of the plant was about Rs 28.33 crore. He said that farmers would not allow to change its land use to surrender it to some private firm at no cost.
