Chamba (Nov 6): An Army officer was injured after a jawan fired at him at Teraila village of Chamba district last night. The victim was later referred to Tanda medical college in Kangra district while the jawan had been arrested, police source confirmed.

SP Chamba Madhu Sudan Sharma said the 2nd. Indian Reserve Battalion was posted at Churah valley to check infiltration of militants from J&K. Sepoy Shamshair had reportedly come down the same day after performing hard duty at IRB centre in Nadoladhar and had an altercation with his senior Surjeet Singh.

Preliminary report establishes that Shamsheir was adamant to go on leave after returning from a snowline post but his senior did not accept it, which led to an altercation between the two. But the police are yet to ascertain the exact cause for the incident as investigations are going on. The injured officer is reported to be out of danger.
A case was registered under Section 307 of IPC at Tisa police station against Sepoy Shamshair, and senior police officers visited the spot.
