Life term for murder convict

Mandi (Oct 28): Presiding officer of Mandi fast track court today sentenced Sukh Dev, a labourer from district Korbe, Chattisgarh, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life for murdering his wife Urmila.

As per fact of case, on 23-6-08, the wife of the convict was found dead in a room at village Samaud of Sarkaghat sub-division where the convict was living along with deceased and his minor daughter. The police has registered a case under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code and arrested the convict on 26-6-08.

The prosecution examined 22 witnesses to prove its case. The court while discussing the evidence led by the prosecution held the conviction on circumstantial evidence. The court observed that the prosecution proved the case against the convict that the convict strangulated his wife with a rope and ran away from the spot.
