Rohtang Pass experiences snowfall

Shimla (Oct 12):  Rohtang Pass and other high reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnuar and Chamba district had light snowfall whereas low-line areas were lashed by rain during the last 24 hours, plunging the mercury to lowest level in the season. Reports received from Keylong of Lahalu and Spiti district said that Rohtang Pass Jalori Jot and Sacch Pass had light snowfall.  Kinnuar Kailesh ranges of Kinnuar also had mild snowfall bringing down the temperature to it lowest level as Kelylong recorded 2.8 degree Celsius, four degree below normal.

Rainfall occurred at Saloni in Chamba and Solan 16.8 mm each , Bhangana 8 mm, Una 7.4 mm, Shimla 5.7 mm, Kasol 1.5 mm and Baijnath 1 mm. The minimum temperature of Shimla and Dharamshala were 12 degrees, Sundernagar 11.1 degrees, Bhuntar and Solan 9 degrees, Una 14.2 degrees, Palampur and Mandi 14 degrees each and Nahan 18.5 degrees.

The Met office forecast snow, rain or thundershowers at isolated places in the state during next 24 hours.
