Shimla (Oct 1): Himachal Pradesh Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau is likely to file challen against Union Steel Minster Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pratibha Singh, as a major hurdle in the way for filling challen was cleared today when Himachal Pradesh High Court dismissed Singh’s petition seeking CBI probe in the corruption case this morning.

Himachal Pradesh Vigilance & Anti-corruption Bureau IG KC Sadyal told HimVani over phone that the charge-sheet prepared by the department against the Union minister after completing investigation may be filled in the fast-track court (Only CBI designated court in the state) of Justice BR Chandel today itself.

The charge-sheet was registered on August 3, 2009 and a case was filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act against former Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pritibha Singh.  Persecution claimed that it has obtained the report of CDs and audio cassettes from the Central Forensic Laboratory, Chandigarh, which was released and handed over to police by former Congress minister Vijay Singh Mankotia in a press conference and also handed over the cassette to the state government later. Mankotia claimed that he had received the material in his letter box.

The CD and audio-cassettes allegedly contained the conversation of Union Steel Minister and his wife Pratibha Singh with former IAS officer Mahinder Lal, who died last year.
