Dharamsala: Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE) chairman Chaman Lal Gupta on Friday admitted that since 2006 almost 800 students may have ‘benefited’ due to the examination scam unearthed recently.

Addressing media persons, he said that police investigations revealed the period from when the racket was on and how many students were declared pass without them having taken the examinations. He said that the two accused, Ashwini Dogra and Suresh Chaudhary, had been running the racket by using fake stamps and answersheets to get the students passed illegally.

He said the Board would take all necessary measures to restore confidence of people in the state education system. Dharamsala ASP Sanjiv Gandhi said that the two accused had been remanded to police custody for five days in a new case pertaining to illegal passing of student of class XI and class XII.
