Nahan: Members of Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Paonta Sahib, under the chairmanship of Sardar Rattan Singh, today removed Sukhdev Singh Bhor from the post of general secretary and also preliminary membership of the committee with immediate effect. Seven members from the 11-member committee attended the meeting, which was not attended by Bhor.

Those who were present included Jathedar Kartar Singh Takkar (Ambala), Zora Singh (Jagadhari), Bhopender Singh (Badaripur), Baldev Singh (Paonta Sahib), Rajender Singh Rajan (Dehradun) and Jathedar Harbhajan Singh (Surajpur).

Reacting on his removal, Bhor said that his removal was illegal as the committee had no right to take such action. Describing the sequence of events, Jathedar Kartar Singh Takkar, said that the Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee had earlier decided to include girls Kabbadi in Khalsa Games being organized at Paonta Sahib. He said that some prominent citizens of Paonta Sahib and members of the committee objected to this, following which it was decided not to pursue the matter further. He said that the chairman of the games committee, Jathedar Avatar Singh, was also taken into confidence in this decision.

Thakkar said that when Bhor came to know about this decision, he reacted immediately and said that he would not come to Paonta Sahib in future. He said that the committee considered his words as resignation and removed him from the post.
