Nahan: More than 40,000 residents of Nahan town have been facing shortage of drinking water for the last two months due to defunct Kheri lift water supply scheme and increased silting in the Nehar Sawar gravity water supply scheme.

Irrigation and public health (IPH) department has been arranging water tankers on the town streets, but people living away from roads are facing difficulty. Besides, those not in a condition to carry water buckets themselves, have been left with no option but to pay Rs 10  to 25 per bucket to labourers daily.

On Janmashtami, residents could not get even a single drop of water due to failure of the administration to supply water. IPH officers claimed that pipelines would be restored soon and regular supply of water would be regularized.

  1. Thanks to voters of Nahan. We elect MLA of oppsition in every election. We know that in Himachal, Congress and BJP come in power alternatively, then why not MLA of BJP this time. We should consider this in coming elections, so that our voices can at least rech to assembly. They are heard or not is the question for afterwards.
