HPCA to organise Twenty20 cricket tourney

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) will organise a Twenty20 cricket tournament with over 1,200 teams and about 18,000 budding cricketers participating in the event.  This was decided at a meeting of HPCA held here today under the chairmanship of HPCA president Anurag Thakur. Cash prizes of about Rs 30 lakh will be distributed and the matches would be played at 75 venues.  “The tournament would offer an opportunity to young players from rural areas to showcase their talent,” HPCA press secretary Mohit Sood said.  Last year, the association had organized T20 Mahasangram’, in which it laimed 14,300 players and 1,017 teams participated.
