Five shops gutted in Shimla

Shimla: A major fire gutted five shops in the heart of the capital town last night, causing loss to the tune of lakhs fo rupees.

The fire, triggered due to electical short circut, engulfed five shops in Lower Bazaar near Sher-a-Punjab eatery. The shops belong to Hatinder Grover (readymade articles), Gurbakesh Singh (shoes shop), Sanjeev Malhtora (mobiles phone), Mushir Mohmood (cold drinks) and Kiran Sigh (readymade goods).  The fire broke out at around 1.30 am and it took almost three hours for five fire tenders to douse the flames. Timely action saved the rest of shops. The administeration assessed preliminary loss of Rs 10 lakh.
