Shimla: Kihar-Langaira area bordering Jammu & Kashmir was cut off from rest of the state on Monday night as a bridge linking the area was washed away after heavy rainfall creating trouble for ITBP personals posted on the border.

Transportation of perishable crops like French-beans, peas, tomato, cabbage, cucumber and apple from the area has also been stopped. Farmers in villages like Mudah, Kotala, Roan, Shail, Sukraiti, Naroi, Shilujhar, falling gram panchayat Salouni and Killard were worst affected as rainstorm has leveled their growing maize crop and landslides caused heavy loss to harvested fields. Gram Panchayat President of Salouni, Pawan Thakur told HimVani that he has sought immediate relief from the district administration requesting quick assessment of loss to farmers.

Meanwhile, ITBP jawans stranded in the area are finding it difficult to access food and other commodities at the border posts. Deputy commissioner Devash Kumar had announced alert after heavy rainfall and flash flood in the area. He said that the administration has sought damage report from Tissa sub-division of the district.

Superintendent engineer of Chamba, SC Dhiman said that laborers were deployed to restore the road as early as possible, but incessant rain was causing interruption in the restoration work.
