Two die, 10 sustain injuries as landslide buried shanties in Shimla

Shimla: Two labourers died and 10 others sustained injuries when landslides triggered by heavy rainfall burred number of shanties in this capital town which was lashed with 72.3 mm rain overnight.

In first mishap occurred at Kanlog near Ram Niwas here, where four labourers sleeping in a hutments were buried under debris when a huge landslides come over it. Nearby people rushed to the spot and worked to remove the four inured from the derbies but two, Chet Ram (20) and Ravi (22) died on way to IGMC. All victims belong to Koti area of Sirmour district.  Another mishap occurred at Rauldubhata area near Lakkar Bazar bus stand when an uprooted tree destroyed dozens of hutments injuring eight migrant labour and render two dozens homeless.

Meanwhile, intermittent rains disrupted normal life in Dharamsala, Solan and Nahan among other places as roads were blocked due to landslides. Dharamsala was wettest in the region with 86.4 mm rains, followed by Kasauli 79 mm, Solan 68.6 mm, Dharmapur 66 mm, Nahan 60 mm, Sundernagar 36.7 mm Jubbarhatti 22 mm and Sandhol 19 mm.
