Shimla: In an unprecedented move, the Himachal Pradesh government on late Thursday evening compulsorily retired two IAS officers with immediate affect. Desh Deepak, a 1983 batch officer, and Vijeyandra Kumar of 1987 batch, were currently without any assignment for a long time.

Senior officials confirmed that the two IAS officers’ service record was not satisfactory, and had also been booked several times. Only two IAS officers have earlier been retired compulsorily in the state, and that too during the previous tenure of BJP government. Then too, Vinod Lal and K Lal were asked to retired as their service record was not found satisfactory. It may be mentioned that several other senior IAS and IPS officers too have been in the news recently due to corruption and criminal charges and it remains to be seen how the government reacts to their cases.
