Body of a 9-yr-old girl exhumed by police

Shimla: The body of a nine-year-old girl, identified as Sarita, reportedly killed under mysterious circumstances, was exhumed by police in district Una today. She was missing from home since June 16, 2010, senior police officer told HimVani.

SP Una Santosh Patyal said that four people – Vikas Deep, his wife Neelam, Navdeep and Maneep (brother of Neelam) – were taken into police custody after being booked under Section 302 of IPC for allegedly being involved in the mysterious death of Sarita, who was living in Vikas Deep’s house at Pandgoh village in Una district. Villagers in Pandgoh area had lodged protest over sudden disapearence of the girl, who was reportedly often beaten up by the accused, who had brought the victim from her parents on the pretext to educate her.

The SP said that after interrogation of the four, police came to know that they had buried the body on the bank of Pandgoh khud from where police recovered it and sent it to IGMC Shimla for autopsy. Earlier, accused Vikas Deep has mislead the police by lodging an FIR at Shahpur police station in Kangra about sudden disapearence of the girl from his house.
