Rohtang may be cleared by tomorrow

Shimla: As many as 150 people were stranded beyond the Rohtang Pass due to heavy snowfall during the last three days, killing 54 sheep and goats. Report arriving from Keylong said that people were stranded between Koksar, Sisu and Darcha on the Manali-Keylong highway.

Talking to HimVani, Lahaul & Spiti SP CR Rana said that the district administration has asked the Border Road Organization to speed up clearance of the snowbound road beyond Rohtang pass by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain lashed parts of the state during last 24 hours. Dharamsala recorded 12.6 mm rainfall, Shimla 9 mm, Jubbar Hatti and Sangla in Kinnaur 6 mm each, Sundernagar and Seobagh 5 mm each.

The capital town recorded a minimum temperature of 14.8 degree Celsius and maximum of 25.2 degree Celsius, Sundernagar 15.1 degrees and 33.4 degrees, respectively. Bhuntar was low at 12.2 degrees and high at 31 degrees, Kalpa 5.8 degrees and 16.8 degrees, Dharamsala 14.7 degree and 29.4 degrees,
Una 18.7 degrees and 39 degrees, Nahan 24.2 degree and 32.2 degrees, Solan 25.2 degrees and 30.2 degrees respectively. Keylong was coldest place in the state with minimum at 5 degree Celsius.
The met office said that dry weather is likely to occur persist in low and middle hills during the next 24 hours but upper reaches may be lashed with rain or thundershowers.

  1. One of our group of 22 people crossed Kaza on 5Th June has not reached Manali . On 10 Th June they were supposed to be in Delhi .
    Is Kaza Rohtang route open ?? May be they are stuck up between Batal and Rohtang ??
    Any idea ??
