Shimla: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived here this morning on a two-day visit to Shimla. He was received by health minister Rajiv Bindal at Annadale helipad with full state honour.

Soon after landing, he straightaway went to the Oberoi group’s heritage hotel Wildflower Hall on the outskirts of the town. Built by the British, Wildflower Hall was once the residence of the commander-in-chief of the British army. He is scheduled to attend a reception hosted by Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh at Raj Bhavan, also known as Barnes Court. State chief secretary Asha Swarup, ADGP DS Minhas and official of Armed forces and district administration were also present on the occasion. The Lankan President was guarded by about 200 security personal seating in about two dozen vehicles. Normally VVIP choppers land at Kalani helipad near Kufri but due to security reasons the chopper carrying Rajapaska was landed at Annadale helipad.
