HP cabinet approves another university

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh cabinet today approved Mahrishi Markendeshwar University (Establishment and Regulation) Bill, 2010, paving the way for setting up of another university in the private sector. State Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, presiding over the meeting, also decided to accept the recommendations of the Atwal Committee constituted by HP University and implement the decisions of the executive council of HP University with regard to step-up benefits to the senior employees of the university.

The cabinet also decided to create Common Service Centres through 3,366 Lok Mitra Kendras being established by the Department of Information Technology all over the state for the benefit of services through e-governance to the common masses for registering their grievances through the e-Samadhan portal by paying a nominal fee of Rs 4 through Lok Mitra Kendras.

The government also approved enhancement in the honourarium of members of HP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and District Redressal Forums from Rs 600 to Rs 1,000 and from Rs 500 to Rs 750 respectively w.e.f. June 1, 2010.
