Hamirpur: Increasing security concerns may soon put sleepy towns spread across Himachal under close circuit camera surveillance. A beginning in this direction has already been made with Hamirpur. During a review meeting of the district disaster management committee here today, Hamirpur additional district magistrate Gurdev Sharma said that four CCTV cameras have been installed at the busy Gandhi Chowk area of Hamirpur town. More such cameras would also be installed at various places in the town, the ADM added.

Addressing the meeting, Hamirpur DC Abhishek Jain stressed upon the need for keeping a strong vigil over activities of anti-national and anti-social persons and asked the law enforcing agencies to ensure that temples, educational institutes and other government buildings were guarded properly. He also directed the police department to register all migrant persons working on various projects and works in the district. He said persons violating such orders would be punished under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code.
