Forum hails lifting of court stay on 85th Amendment

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh unit of All India Equality Forum (AIEF) has hailed the lifting of stay by the Supreme Court over implementation of 85th Constitution Amendment in Himachal Pradesh, thereby “facilitating promotion of thousand of employees waiting for it”.

Hailing the lifting of court stay, Pratap Singh Thakur of AIEF said that the court order would give relief to thousand on employees. He said that the court order would benefit employees who were waiting for their due promotions. The 85th Constitutional Amendment was not implemented in earlier because the matter was under consideration of the Supreme Court due to verdict on the Creamy Layer issue. Thakur said that the court categorically clarified in its order that Creamy Layer rule would be considered for promotions of employees under the ‘Other Backward Class’ category.
