DGP proceeds on leave, Manhas gets charge

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh government on Tuesday handed over additional charge of state DGP to DS Manhas, who is DGP vigilance, after DGP GS Gill proceeded on leave, reportedly due to differences with the government. Gill will be retiring in June this year. Manhas is also said to be the front-runner to beg the post after Gill’s retirement, though there are at least five officers senior to him including CBI director Ashwani Kumar; special director, IB, Ajit Lal; DGP prisons Sohan Singh, RN Gupta and Anirudh Uppal.
