All set for the dream day in Himachal’s history

Dharamsala: The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium here this evening wore a festive look with star cricketers, game administrators, government officials and hundreds of curious fans running around all over. As Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers teams tested ground conditions one last time before the match on Friday while the mighty snow-clad Dhauladhars wore a crimson tunic facing the setting sun, Dharamsala residents finally sat assured about their day under the floodlights.

Often referred to as ‘Cherrapunji of the north’ because of heavy and unpredictable rainfall, people have still not forgotten the India and Pakistan Board President’s XI match scheduled to be played here almost two years ago, which got washed out completely. And so the apprehensions remain whether the rain god would allow it this time or not. While the met office has predicted a clear sky for the first match, it forecast cloudy conditions for April 17 and 18. However, as a precautionary measure, HPCA has already sought assurance from the local deities about clear weather for both the matches. Those who have bought tickets are anyway tense (even though HPCA has announced to refund all tickets if the matches get washed) as for most of them it would be their first-ever brush with any mega entertainment event. Over to the stadium now.
