Shimla: Opposition Congress members today staged a walkout in the Himachal Pradesh assembly demanding adjournment motion to bring immediate discussion on the alleged lathicharge on Congress agitators on Friday outside the Vidhan Sabha complex.

Raising the matter during Question Hour, leader of the opposition, Vidya Stokes, said the Congress has given a notice for adjournment to bring immediate discussion on the issue of lathicharge and to seek probe into the issue. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Tulsi Ram, giving ruling over the adjournment motion, said that he had just received the notice and needed some time to decide over it.

Congress members kept on insisting for the discussion and created noisy scene by shouting slogans against the government. Speaking over the adjournment motion, parliamentary affairs minister JP Nadda replied that Congress demand for adjournment motion was already under consideration of the chair but the opposition tried to halt the proceedings. He said that when the speaker had given his ruling on the issue, the opposition should have followed the chair and allowed him to run the House peacefully.
Later, the entire opposition staged a walkout from the House. Talking to media persons, Stokes condemned the government’s stand over the lathicharge and charged that BJP government was working against its political opponents by misusing power.
