High reaches of Lahaul valley experience light snowfall

Shimla: High reaches of Lahaul valley today experienced light snowfall and many parts of the state were lashed with rain or thunder showers as sky turned cloudy in the afternoon.

A Met office release issued here said that Keylong, headquarter of Lahaul Spiti, received traces of snowfall and three millimeter of rain today, whereas its high reaches saw fresh spell of light snowfall. Udaipur in the district had highest rainfall recorded at 11 mm.

In Kinnaur, Sangla and in Chamba district Saloni and Tissa had two millimeter each of rainfall and Bhuntar in Kullu .4 mm. Light downpour also lashed Shimla and its surrounding areas. Minimum temperature at Keylong was registered at 3.4 degree Celsius, Kalpa 5.5 degrees, Dharamshala, Bhuntar and Palampur were 15 degrees each, Solan and Una 13 degrees, Shimla at 14.8 degrees, and Mandi 20 degrees.
Met office said that rain or snow is likely to occur at few places in the high reaches and rain or thundershowers at isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh.
