Cabinet nod for school management committees

Shimla: Implementing the Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 in Himachal, the state cabinet today gave its approval for setting up of school management committees (SMCs) as desired under the Act. The SMCs would ensure parents and teachers involvement in the management of schools and in achieving the objective of free and compulsory education under the Act, including universalization of elementary education under National Education Policy.

Other decisions:

Nursing college at IGMC for M.Sc. (Nursing), B.Sc. (Nursing) and Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing). Upgradation of the post of assistant professor, Community Medicine, to that of associate professor in IGMC.

Wards of gallantry awardees to get monetary benefits at par with BAR awardees of the Armed Forces for those who have got similar distinguished services award twice. This would carry cash award as well as annual annuity. For “Sarvotam Yudh Seva Medal” cash award of Rs 7,000 and annual annuity of Rs 3,000, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal cash award of Rs 5,000 and annual annuity of Rs 3 000, Yudh Seva Medal cash award of Rs 3,000 and annual annuity of Rs 3,000, Param Vashisht Seva Medal cash award of Rs 15,000 and annual annuity of Rs 5,400, Ati Vashisht Seva Medal cash award of Rs 7,000 and annual annuity of Rs 4800 and for Vashisht Seva Medal cash award of Rs 3,000 and annual annuity of Rs 3,000 will be given. The cabinet also approved filling up one post of director in Directorate of Sainik Welfare Department.

Cabinet also approved two technical colleges after denying them affiliation as universities. Abhishi Educational Society, Ner Chawk, district Mandi to establish technical colleges under affiliation to HP Technical University. KC Social Welfare Trust, Nawanshahr, to set up technical colleges affiliated to HP Technical University.
