Kufri, Narkanda experience snowfall

Shimla: Tourist resorts Kufri and Narkanda experienced fresh spell of snowfall while some other parts of the state were lashed with light to moderate rain or thundershowers as inclement weather conditions prevailed in the state today.

Narkanda and Kufri experienced about five to six centimeter snowfall this morning and Kharapather, Shalipeak of Shimla district, Churdhar in Sirmour, Kinnear Kailesh and Saptrishi ranges in Kinnuar, Keylong, headquarter of Lahaul Spiti district and 13050-foot high Rohtang Pass were also lashed with fresh spell of snowfall.

Shimla, Manali, Kalpa, Recong-Peo and its surrounding areas were also lashed with light to moderate rain along with thundershowers, which lasted for more than four hours.The minimum temperature of Keylong rose slightly and settled at minus 6.8 degrees Celsius, which was five degree above normal, followed by Kalpa recording minus two degree Celsius. Una was cold at eleven degrees, Sundernagar at 10.7 degrees, Bhuntar at 9.6 degrees and Dharamsala at 4.8 degrees Celsius. The capital town recorded a minimum of three degrees Celsius.

The met office said that rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in mid hills and rain or snow at few places in higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours.
