Kangra to get NREGA award

Dharamsala: Kangra district has been selected for national award for successfully implementing the rural employment programme under NREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act). The district is among 25 districts across the country selected for the award. The district administration claims to have spent Rs 100 crore in 2008-2009 under the scheme, issuing 202,112 job cards and 114,666 actual employments in the period. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will give the award on February 2 in New Delhi.
