Manali: Rohtang Pass was closed for traffic on Monday because of heavy snowfall in the region, while most of the high mountains in Himachal Pradesh too received moderate to heavy snowfall in the last 24 hours. Widespread rain in the lower reaches of the state brought down the temperatures considerably, bringing cheer to farmers and fruit growers. The maximum temperatures fell sharply by 10-15 degrees C at various places. Director met office Manmohan Singh said that Keylong received about eight to nine inches of snow, whereas the higher passes, including Rohtang Pass, Baralacha Pass and Kunzum Pass received heavy snow and has been closed for vehicular traffic.
