Renuka fair begins with fervour

Nahan: The week-long state-level Renuka fair, the biggest religious fair of Sirmour district, commenced at Renukaji today with traditional fervor. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal presided over the inaugural ceremony of the fair. He participated in the traditional Shobha Yatra of Lord Parshuram and paid obeisance in the Parshuram and Shri Renukaji temples.

The traditionally decorated silver palanquin of Lord Parshuram was brought from the ancient temple in Jamu Koti village to the school ground at Dadahu, where the Chief Minister, thousands of devotees and half-a-dozen palanquins of different deities brought from different parts of the district welcomed the palanquin of Lord Parshuram.

Dhumal, paid obeisance to the palanquins of lord Parshuram and
other deities and lead the traditional Shobha Yatra by lifting the beautifully decorated silver palanquin of Lord Parshuram on his shoulders from Dadahu to Renukaji. Lakhs of devotees participated in this divine procession which took more than three hours to cross over one the one kilometre distance.
