Three Nobel laureates in Dharamsala

Dharamsala: Three Nobel peace laureates will meet the Dalai Lama at Dharamsala on Tuesday to discuss issues related to world peace. Nobel laureates Shirin Ebadi, Máiread Corrigan and Jody Williams will also participate in the PeaceJam Youth Conference along with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The conference will be held at the Tibetan Children’s Village school on Tuesday.

Shirin Ebadi was the first Muslim woman to receive the Nobel prize in 2003 for her pioneering efforts for democracy and human rights. Máiread Corrigan co-founded the Community of Peace People, an organisation which attempts to encourage a peaceful resolution of the troubles in Northern Ireland and was co-recipients of the 1976 Nobel prize, whereas Jody Williams got the Peace prize jointly in 1997 for the international campaign to ban landmines.

    Dharamsala is already on the world map due to being the headquarters of the Government -in – exile of Tibet. The coming togethet of three Nobel laureates are certainly going to be a feather in the cap.

With all its economic and military might the big China sitting miles away still has sleepless nights and have shivers sent down their spine – in fact no spine – about HH Dlai Lama is the most genuine testimony of non-violent , peaceful protest for not bowing to the might which is generally wrong! Welcome to the peace lords in the land of Lords – Devbhoomi…
