Two suspected swine flu cases in Shimla

Shimla: While the state government reacted sharply to a media report stating that a suspected swine flu case had been detected in Shimla a day earlier, stating that there were no such cases, two suspected cases were reported in Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital on Monday. Indira Gandhi medical College authorities are said to have confirmed having admitted a 20-year-old student who returned from Pune some days back and another resident of Kotkhai, who had gone to Delhi.

Meanwhile, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of health minister Rajeev Bindal to review the situation. During the meeting, Bindal informed that till now no case of swine flu has come to light in Himachal.
During the meeting it was decided that H1NI diagnostic facilities would created at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and at the Central Research Institute at Kasauli within a week.

A team of health experts is also expected from National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) on Tuesday to to examine the situation.
