Price rise: CPIM to launch protests from Aug 27

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh state committee of the Communist Party of India Marxist has decided to launch state-wide protests against incessant price rise of essential commodities from 27-31 August. The decision was taken during a meeting held by party national general secretary Prakash Karat.

The protest demonstrations would be preceded by a massive campaign in which leaflets would be distributed exposing the hollow claims of both the central and the state government as far as the price rise issue is concerned.  The CPIM has stated, increase in prices of essential commodities, particularly of food items, has become unbearable for the people. “The CPIM has decided to jointly conduct an anti-price rise agitation to demand that the government take immediate and effective steps to curb price rise of essential commodities,” said Tikender Panwar, member of the state CPIM unit.
