Solan: A day after a 33-year-old man allegedly died in police custody here, the district police on Sunday finally registered a murder case under Section 302 of IPC.
For the time being, no cop has been named in the FIR, and as doctors could not reach any conclusion on the reson for death following the postmortem, the matter has now been referred to IGMC, SHimla. It may be mentioned that there have been widespread protests in Solan following the death of Paramjit Singh in police custody on Sautrday. Unlike neighbouring states, Himachal Pradesh does not have a history of custodial deaths.THough higher officials have assured transperancy in investigation, the police are taking no chances and have put cops on alert in the town.
