Shimla:
There are more than one lakh licensed blood donation banks in India, but still hospitals find it hard to meet blood requirement, which stand at a around 10 million units while around five to six million units of blood is donated each year in the country. There is hardly anything that can be done to bridge the gap, except for owning up individual responsibility towards mankind.

Shimla city itself has been facing acute shortage of blood, primarily because of lack of awareness among the general public to come forward as donors. To help the authorities in overcoming this challenge, the Voice of Himachal Society is organising a blood donation
camp on 22nd February, 2008, at The Ridge in Shimla. The camp will start at
10:30 in the morning.
This camp is also being supported by various VOH network organizations such as UMANG and YES. Volunteers from VOH and partner organizations have already started the work of mobilising donors in and around the city. The basic aim behind the camp is to mobilize new donors, besides mobilizing support for the cause from regular blood donors.

You can contribute to this noble effort not only by donating blood but also by spreading the word about the camp by requesting your near and dear ones to come and donate blood for the noblest of all causes.
VOH is also looking forward to associating with more organisations and individuals to help mobilise large number of donors.
