1296 CSCs in Kangra division

The Government of Himachal Pradesh today entered into an agreement with M/s Zoom Developers Pvt. Ltd. to establish 1296 Common Service Centres (CSC) in Kangra Division to cover Kangra, Una and Chamba districts. The centres are being seen as an important instrument that would help in cutting down on the number of man hours wasted by people from far flung areas in running to various government offices for simple tasks such as driving license and many other registeration formalities. The centres are to be set up in all the Panchayats of the division within one year. The agreement was signed by Secretary IT B. K. Agarwal on behalf of the Government of Himachal Pradesh. Director Information Technology Subhasish Panda and other officers of the Department were also present on the occasion.

These centres will be offering host of services under a single roof in the rural areas. The service mix will include government services such as voter registration, voter ID card, Police complaint registration, vacancy listings, passport enquiry status, school board results, REFNIC, High court cause list, Government information and various application forms through websites. The other services to be offered in the centres are computer education, examination results, vocational education, microfinance, agriculture related services, utility bill payments, railway and bus bookings.

The centres will be established in a Public Private Partnership mode where the private partner (M/s Zoom Developers Pvt. Ltd) will setup infrastructure and identify village level entrepreneurs to operate the centres.
