Bridge on Manikaran road snaps

HimVani

Bhuntar: A bailey bridge joining Manikaran with Bhuntar collapsed on Saturday, thus isolating the Manikaran valley. The bridge collapsed after a truck tried to cross it despite warning that the bridge could not take heavy load. Manikaran witnesses a huge rush of Sikh pilgrims during this time of the year as it is home to an historic gurdwara. People were seen stranded on both sides of the road but later traffic was diverted via Bajaura village. As per sources, it could take more than two months to repair the bridge, which was constructed by the Army in 1995 after the link road to the main bridge across the Beas river was washed away.
