Himachal HC gets 2 more judges

New Delhi: To meet the shortage of judges, the strength of Himachal Pradesh High Court judges has been increased from present nine judges to eleven. Disclosing this, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal while addressing Chief Ministers and Chief Justices conference at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, stated that the state government has also placed requisition of filling up of 15 posts of civil judges (junior division) with Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
He added that the Commission has started the process of conducting examination and selection of the candidates for filling up the vacant posts. Dhumal disclosed that at present 108 subordinate courts are working in the state and six new courts of civil judges (junior division) have been created in the state during last two year for speedy disposal of pending cases.
The Chief Minister told that the government has taken various steps to augment and upgrade the infrastructure in the courts and added that Himachal Pradesh High Court has been fully computerized. He said told the government has set up Himachal Pradesh State Judicial Academy to strengthen the judicial administration by providing judicial education and training to judicial officers at the time of induction in the service.
