Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today announced that the government would set up a hydel power training institute on the pattern of USA. He also invited top industrial house to partner in setting up proposed hydro power project training institutes to impart training to unemployed youth for executing hydro
electric projects through co-operative societies in the state.
Speaking at a conference organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on ‘Destination Himachal - new investment opportunities’ at the PHD house, the chief minister announced that the state will generate around 12,000 megawatt hydroelectric energy by 2012. He said that the government has decided to invite competitive bids for execution of 5 MW capacity hydro electric projects as against previous policy of 100 MW capacity to bring total transparency in awarding hydro projects.
He also announced that industrialist having their units from last 15 years in the state will be honoured with bonafide Himachali certificates. Dhumal announced that night landing facilities at Kangra, Kullu and Shimla airports will be installed during current financial year.
Dhumal said that the government has decided to issue identity cards to all workers/employees of government and private sectors to protect the interests of workers and added that working hours for export oriented units have been relaxed. The state government has also permitted women workers to work in two shifts in factories and all three shifts in BPO, software and IT related services.
