Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet in its meeting held on Friday sanctioned 200 posts of Ayurveda pharmacists to be filled up 50% batch wise and 50% by direct recruitment. But the unearthing of a bogus paramedical institute in Chandigarh where fake degrees and certificates were issued to at least 700 students, mostly from Himachal Pradesh, has already put a question mark on these recruitments.
Chandigarh police is reported to have said that most of the over 700 students with fake certificates were from Himachal Pradesh, where “it’s allegedly easier to land government jobs with diplomas in courses like ayurveda and pharmacy”. The Ayurveda Department has been directed to arrange for training of these pharmacists in government institutes, but that itself may not prove of any help if the applicants who are to apply are holding fake degrees.
Fake certificates were reportedly issued by Sector-38 based Chandigarh Institute of Paramedical Sciences in the name of Vinayaka Mission University in Tamil Nadu and JRN Vidhyapeeth University in Rajasthan. Both these so-called universities were earlier de-recognised by UGC. The police cracked down on the institute after receiving a complaint from Abhimanyu Kumar from Solan.
