HimVani
The union government has in principle agreed to include apple under the crop insurance scheme. This was revealed by Himachal Pradesh horticulture minister Narinder Bragta during an orchardists’ meet in Shamsi.
The minister said that teams from the centre are already visiting the state to work out modalities. The risks to be involved under the insurance scheme are yet to be decided. The minister said the state has sent a Rs 10-crore action plan to seek an increase in the Rs 80-crore amount it gets under the Horticulture Technical Mission programme. He also said that the state government has released Rs 10 crore due to apple growers from HPMC.
