NPL: Heinous Harriers still undefeated

By Albert Hangzo
Hamirpur: Heinous Harriers remained the only team in the NPL tournament to have won all of their matches as they defeated Sizzling Juggernauts by 2-0 on Tuesday here at the NIT campus in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. The win put the Harriers even farther away from the second placed team, the Hornets, and it seems that the only likely winner of NITH Premier League is going to be the Harriers.
The match had an interesting start as the Harriers scored in the opening minutes through a free kick which found the back of the net after getting a healthy deflection from Juggernauts defender Ripon Rajiung. The goal put the Juggernauts in the backfoot and they struggled hard to find the equaliser unsuccessfully. Both the teams cancelled out each other so perfectly that the match almost became dull as none of them could build up interesting moves.
The Sizzling Juggernauts gave their all in the dying minutes trying desperately to find an equalizer. But their hopes were shattered as the Harriers gave the final blow with a goal with just two minutes to spare. The ball was fed in through a corner and Thongam Amarjit was the first to reach to the ball before the Juggernaut defenders could react. The final whistle blew shortly after and the Harriers walked away with four more points to add to their already mammoth tally of 20 points.
The next match will feature a new-look Maniacs team against a star-studded squad of Titans.
