Shimla: In an effort to control the spread of AIDS in the state, the Himachal Pradesh government is exploring the possibility of introducing pre-marital AIDS test. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said the government would take measures to spread awareness on the matter, and it would not be imposed. The idea is that people entering wedlock may match their AIDS-free test reports just as horoscopes are matched before marriages.
The chief minister had announced a battle against AIDS in his budget speech also and had asked the government agencies to take all necessary steps to check the spread of the disease in Himachal. Dhumal suggested that nearly 2,622 anganwari centres working in the state could be converted into Red Ribbon clubs for spreading awareness on AIDS.
The highest number of AIDS cases have been reported from Hamirpur, followed by Mandi and Sirmaur districts.

Pre marital aids test will expose the positive person either male or female to the society which will have the negative results or impact.
i think that this will cause the partition in the society . if mr. cm is saying this i can not under stand who he can?
many of crores rupees are spent by govt. to aware people but i think a very less is poitively used on the ground level. to control the spread of aids the only weapon is awareness and proper counselling.
But knowing one got married to a HIV+ person after marriage would be far more disastrous for the second partner. CM is just making people aware and we must applaud his suggestion.
