Hamirpur: Heinous Harriers continued to stay on top of the NPL points table defeating Voracious Maniacs by 1-0 in the seventh league match played at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh. Vishal Srivastav scored the solitary goal for Heinous Harriers in the second half of the football match to continue their winning streak.
Both the teams were equally matched as they continued creating equal number of scoring chances in the first half, but the forwards failed to provide the finishing touch required. The players looked a little rusty as the league was halted for a week in order to provide practice time for the college team that went to NIT Jaipur for the Inter-College Tournament.
The breakthrough came shortly after the start of the second half. Thongam Amarjit showed good skill as he fed the ball perfectly into the feet of Vishal, who didn’t disappoint his team with the execution. The match got livelier after the goal as Maniacs tried desperately to score an equalizer. They almost got the equalizer in the dying minutes of the game through Arshpal Gill, but the Harriers goalkeeper Veeresh performed a diving save and ensured they earned 4 points from the match.
