Shimla: Following the Union government’s decision to raise another reserve battalion in Himachal Pradesh few days back, the Centre has now in principle agreed to have a women reserve battalion in the state. Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Sunday said that the Centre has agreed to raise an exclusive women’s battalion.
The Centre would provide Rs 25.5 crore for raising the two battalions. The women’s battalion would be trained to meet security needs in areas affected by terrorists and Naxalites, and would also be available for deployment in international peace missions.
In all, about 1,000 posts in various categories would be filled in the two battalions.
