Himachal electorate throws ADR Report to wind

New Delhi: The Himachal electorate has thrown the ADR (Association for Democratic Reforms) Report – ‘Himachal Pradesh Election Watch’ (HPEW) – to the wind and have voted for 21 of the 50 candidates that have criminal cases pending against them.

Of the 21 candidates, 19 belong to BJP and two to Congress and one as an independent candidate.

ADR along with Lok Kalyan Mandal, and more than 14 NGOs and social activists had before the elections worked for HPEW to bring out the report, from data collected from the affidavits filed by the candidates along with their nomination papers.

BJP won the elections getting elected from 41 of the total 68 seats. Meanwhile Congress could manage only 23 seats. New entrant, BSP could only garner one seat while three Independent candidates too made it to the assembly hall.

  1. few names missing in the list; guys who are glorified in HimVani article…. The sexgate centerpiece won by 5000+ votes and we care a damm. There were few CDGates as well …Why did the 14 NGO’s missed on this.

    The vote is for development (expectation). The state is progressive today because of its people otherwise in past 5 years Shimla does not have drinking water even in winters for the common man.

    If BJP comes down to vendeta politics then your list will have few more names to add

  2. People have replaced saints with goons. People of Himachal are thankful to the writer who reminded them about this grave mistake.

  3. I guess the lis shows names against whom cases are running aftr formal FIRs were registered. I am not sure whether an FIR was registered against Mr Bali and even in the CD case.

  4. It is really unfortunate. I think, rules for accepting the nomination,already provides provisions not to accept nominations of criminals. Then,I am surprised to see that how they could contest at all ?
