One dies in Shimla fire

HimVani

Shimla: Bringing alive the worst fear Shimlites have during winters, one person was burnt alive while at least 11 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out in Lower Bazaar early this morning. The cause of fire could not be ascertained, while firemen battled flames for over four hours to control the blaze. Luckily, they managed to prevent it from spreading to the adjoining markets, but the total loss was anyway estimated to be around Rs 1 crore.
The district administration announced an immediate relief of Rs 5,000 each to traders whose shops were gutted in the incident.
Every year several constructions, especially old wooden structures, are gutted in fires in the hill town during winters.
