HPTDC makes record bookings in Ahmedabad

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has made record hotel bookings worth Rs 35 lakh from its Ahmedabad office during a short span of five months from April to August this year.
According to Dash Raja Taker, manager and in-charge of HPTDC marketing office at Ahmedabad, an upward trend has been registered among Gujarati tourists visiting Himachal and they are visiting the marketing office and Himachal tourism pavilion set up at the Travel and Tourism Fair in Ahmedabad in large numbers. He said that more than two lakh tourists from Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat are expected to make trips to various places of tourist interest in the state during the Diwali festival holidays beginning from the first week of November.
Thakur said that the marketing office of HPTDC was set up in Ahmedabad in the year 1998. A business of Rs 18 lakh was made in the same year which has shot up to Rs 62 lakh in the year 2006. The corporation has been offering 30% discount to senior citizens during the tourist season especially in summer and 10% discount over and above the discount offered in hotel bookings during off-season.
